Email Pilot - Business Rates reminders
Derby City Council is running a pilot which aims to test the concept of using email to reduce the cost and improve the quality of service, by reminding our customers that their Business Rates are due.
Each month we have to issue Business Rates Reminders to some of our customers who, for one reason or another, have not paid their instalment. Obviously, we’d rather not send any Reminders Notices so we are looking at other ways to contact our customers effectively.
The pilot is being led by the Customer Services Department.
How does it work?
An email is sent to the customer to remind them that their Business Rates instalment is now due. The email will display methods of payment, a reminder that Direct Debit could be used to pay Business Rates and a promotion of Self Service which enables the customer to:
- Check their account, view transactions and see the bills or correspondence we've sent to them
- Sign up for e-billing
- Pay your bill
- Complete a direct debit mandate
- View rateable values for non-domestic properties in Derby
Do I need to respond to the Email I receive?
The response needs to be payment of your instalment.
However, if you have any questions about your account you can email the Business Rates team back.
Will I receive marketing or junk emails from this?
No. The service is totally confidential.
You will only receive this email if you have given us yor email address to contact you and we need to send you a reminder.
If you do not wish to receive further emails of this nature you can select the unsubscribe link.
