Derby. A city for all ages

Public Health

We aim to ensure that all public health nuisances and unsatisfactory conditions are investigated and abated as necessary. Drainage complaints are investigated and appropriate remedial action is taken. The Section also deals with all matters relating to abandoned vehicles. Licensing of animal boarding and breeding establishments, horse riding stables, pet shops and caravan sites is carried out to ensure that relevant standards are met. We also deal with public health burials and water sampling.

We also participate in work on wider public health issues. Staff within the Public Health Section actively engage with community groups, voluntary sector agencies and other public health professionals on a wide range of public health issues and initiatives that seek to address health and health inequality issues in the City of Derby.
