From mid October 2007 Derby Registration Service are hoping to introduce a nationality checking service for those persons wishing to apply for British Nationality.
What is the Nationality Checking Service?
- The Nationality Checking Service is a partnership between the Border and Immigration Agency and Derby City Council
- It enables people applying for British Citizenship to make their applications in person at selected local Register Offices.
How does the Nationality Checking Service Work?
- For a set fee, a trained registered advisor will check that you have completed your application form correctly and will photocopy all necessary supporting documents.
- Your application form, together with certified copies of documents is sent by registered post to the Home Office for you.
Why use the Nationality Checking Service?
- You are able to keep your passport and other important documents.
- Applications arrive at the Home Office containing all necessary details thus avoiding unnecessary delays.

Application Forms and Information can be obtained from the Nationality Enquiries Team, Customer Services Directorate, PO Box 36, Liverpool L2 0QN, by downloading from the
Border and Immigration Agency Website 
or by telephoning the Nationality Helpline - 0845 010 5200
How much will it cost?
- A single adult fee is £40
- Husband and wife living together who apply at the same time will cost £70
- Husband and wife and up to 2 children who apply at the same time will cost £90 (Any addtional children will incur a fee per child of £20)
- Child who submits a separate application from parents will incur a fee of £20.
