Derby. A city for all ages

Derby Compact

What is the Compact?

The Derby Compact is a commitment to open, transparent and fair working practices by statutory and voluntary and community sector partners. Its aim is to improve relationships, communication, participation and services to create a better Derby.

The Derby Compact was first developed in partnership by Derby City Council and the local Voluntary and Community Sector, in 2001. It was produced following a national Compact between Government and the voluntary sector in 1998, when councils were urged to develop local agreements.

A new Compact for Derby

The Derby Compact is currently being revised and updated, to align it with Derby City Partnership structures and to strengthen the implementation of Compact principles across the whole statutory sector and the voluntary and community sector. This should help to underpin better Compact compliance and implementation across the city.

A draft updated version of the Compact has been out to consultation to ensure that the full range of views from both statutory sector and voluntary and community sector partners are sought and incorporated into the new Derby Compact. The online consultation closed on 30 April 2008, but can still be accessed on Derby City Council's consultation website 'Your City, Your Say' using the link below:
