To vote in elections you need to register. Every autumn we update the register by delivering forms to every household in the city. This year, we are posting forms like the one shown here to all households on the 8 August.

The Register needs to be a record of all eligible voters resident in each household on 15 October 2008. However, you do not have to wait until that date to fill in the information. To register members of your household on the Register of Electors, you can respond in three ways.

Register online

There is a green box on the top right of the form similar to the one shown below. This box shows a two part password. This is unique to your household and has been randomly generated. Go to the internet registration service website. This is where you will be prompted to enter this username and password and then confirm the details of people in your household eligible to vote. Register over the phone

Call us on 0800 197 5576 to confirm your registration by phone. This is an automated service and you will be asked to give your two part password by entering them into the keypad of the telephone.

Register by Text (SMS)

If all the names on the form are correct and there are no changes to be made to any of the columns then text the unique number on the form to 80212.
