The Council's Derby Adult Learning Service offers a wide range of courses including:
- book-keeping and computers
- languages
- British Sign Language
- English for Speakers of Other Languages
- arts and crafts
- creative writing
- keep fit and dancing
- cookery
- GCSEs.
Some courses lead to a qualification and others are for personal development. Class sizes are usually small, with an average of 12 people a class, to make sure that everyone gets individual attention.
Courses are held in venues across the city during the day and evening. Crèche facilities are available for some day-time courses. The Council offers a range of discounts on course fees to adults who are getting state benefits.
