The Primary Capital Programme (PCP) is a major national programme of capital investment in primary schools through to 2023. In Derby, we will receive £3.8m in the 2009/10 financial year and £6.2m in 2010/11. Thereafter, we could receive £3m a year.
Before the funding can be released, we have to submit a strategy – the “Primary Strategy for Change” – by the middle of June. We have to show that we are:
- taking the worst condition buildings out of use
- using the funding to transform education, particularly where there is low attainment and/or high deprivation
- reducing surplus places.
