Pest Control

The Pest Control Team is part of the City Councils Environmental Health and Trading Standards Division.

Pest control services in Domestic Premises includes free treatments for rats in occupied homes. There are charges for all other domestic pest control treatments, but residents in receipt of low-income benefit, or those over 60 and not in full time employment qualify for a reduced cost treatment – see Fees and Charges. Downloadable fact sheets are also provided with information on the main pest species.

Our Commercial Pest Control service includes a range of competitively priced treatments, including the provision of commercial contracts.

Our Pest Control Service:

  • Uses trained and qualified Pest Control staff. All our Pest Control Technicians hold the Royal Society of Health Certificate in Pest Control, or equivalent.
  • Will carry out the most appropriate method of treatment for your problem.
  • Will not carry out any unnecessary treatments.
  • Complies with current health and safety requirements and industry best practice.
  • Carries appropriate public liability insurance.
  • Provides free advice, including a free Pest Identification Service.
  • Uses safe, modern pesticides that are approved for use in the UK.

We will treat any other personal information you provide in confidence and under the Data Protection Act 1998. We will hold it and only use it for a legal reason or for the purpose it is given. We will only share information when we have your consent or we need to ask another department or partner to respond to a specific comment or request you have made.

We will keep a record of the sender's Internet Protocol address (which is unique to the sender's computer), the date we received the form, and the content for back-up and archive purposes. We will also use this record to identify senders of any malicious content under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997. We will keep this record for a maximum of three months.
