The Planning Portal  is a system developed by the Planning Inspectorate giving you access to a combination of information and links to planning and related web sites. It is intended to be the first point of call for anyone who wants to find out about the planning system in England and Wales. It is aimed at everyone, from central government and local authorities to planning professionals and the lay person.

The Planning Portal offers a wide range of services and guidance on the planning system. For example:

• Check if planning permission  is required if you want to make an alteration to your home
• If you are placing an antenna  on your property and need advice on the best location
• Need advice  making a planning application
• Submitting a planning application  online  - including plans. documents and fee payment
• If you are a planning professional and want to view Government guidance , including PPGs, Circulars, TANs and Good Practice Guides for England and Wales

The Planning Portal objectives are to improve the planning system and to create a sustainable 'value adding' portal business that delivers services wanted and liked by customers, both public and private.
