Statement of Community Involvement

The SCI is the document which sets out how the Council intends to involve and consult residents of the City on the preparation of plans forming part of its Local Development Framework (LDF) and on new planning applications. The Council adopted the Council's SCI on 24 January 2007. This followed the publication of the Planning Inspector's 'binding report' in October 2006 which found that the draft SCI, as submitted to the Secretary of State, was sound subject to some minor amendments

The SCI was submitted to the Secretary of State on 7th April 2006. At the same time the Council conducted a final six-week public consultation period over the document's soundness, 7th April - 19th May 2006. The Planning Inspector undertook an examination into the soundness of the document. This found that the document was sound, subject to a number of textual amendments

The Council's SCI "adoption statement" is a legal notice setting out that the SCI has been adopted. It also sets out the ways in which people can legally challenge its adoption and the grounds on which this can be done.
