Publicity and Consultation

We produce a Weekly List of all applications we receive. This is sent to councillors, an extensive list of subscribers, media contacts and consultees.
If you wish to subscribe to the Weekly List, please contact Co-ordination Services.

We also publicise applications locally by notifying individual neighbours by letter and / or by placing site notices.  We will give you the name and phone number of the Planning Officer dealing with the case in our notification letters and you can phone for further information about the application.  You normally have at least 21 days to comment.

Anyone can view the register of planning applications, and individual applications, including plans at Roman House from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 4.30pm on Friday.  You can also buy copies of documents, subject to copyright provisions from there.

A duty officer is available between 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. However, should you wish to discuss the specfic details of an application please make an appointment to see the case officer at a mutually convenient time.

The Planning Register is also available online at our eplanning service.

We offer a special service to disabled people and people unable to get to our offices for some exceptional reason, such as caring for a dependant relative.  We will send a copy of an application or arrange a visit by the case officer to the person’s home to show them the application.

The Council's practice is to negotiate improvements to applications when necessary.  We will normally renotify neighbours on amendments, if we consider that they raise new issues that could lead to the need for further comment. We usually give 14 days for such comments to be made.
