Welfare Rights

Derby City Council's Welfare Rights Service is a small team of experienced Welfare Rights workers. We specialise in Social Security Benefits and we offer the following services:

  • free, confidential advice about all Social Security Benefits. We have a telephone advice line and offer drop-in advice sessions. The telephone adviceline is available to members of the public or other advisors
  • representation at Appeal Tribunals
  • training. We have a programme of training for City Council employees and a more detailed programme delivered through a local college
  • information. We produce information for the public about a range of benefits
  • take-up. We are involved in a rolling programme of Benefits initiatives and campaigns designed to maximise take-up of benefits.
