Who we are and what we do
Derby City Council set up the Derby Home Energy Advice Service – DHEAS – in October 2000, to help residents with saving energy and making homes warmer. The DHEAS Team has two dedicated staff who offer free advice and information to all of Derby’s residents on ways to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The Service also raises awareness of grants and other schemes that could benefit homeowners, landlords and tenants. The DHEAS team has already dealt with over 24,000 enquiries since its set up. By working closely with other organisations, such as the Warm Front Team, the Service has helped over 13,000 people to make insulation and/or heating improvements to their homes.
Derby Home Energy Advice Service Has Moved
After being based at the Council House for over nine years, the Council’s Home Energy Advice Service has moved to Roman House on Friar Gate. Derby residents can visit the Service at Roman House to discuss their home energy queries with a member of the team. Please call the Helpline on 01332 255004 before visiting to make sure a member of staff will be available to see you. You can also make an appointment to see the team on Wednesday lunch times at Derby Advice in the Council House, Corporation Street. To book an appointment, please call the Home Energy Advice Service Helpline on 01332 255004; email energy.adviceteam@derby.gov.uk

Derby Home Energy Advice Service provides a range of services, such as:
- giving talks and presentations to residents, community groups and key workers.
- organising home energy efficiency events throughout the city and attending other events, such as the Council's Eco-Fest. Fore more information on this event visit Eco-Fest.
DHEAS promotes its service through local radio, newspapers, various magazines and gives information on the Council’s website. We also send a yearly ‘Home Energy Bulletin’ to every household. This lists the main schemes available, encourages residents to contact DHEAS, and offers residents the chance to win energy-efficient prizes. You can download the most recent Home Energy Bulletin
