Local Housing Allowance Landlords Event
In April 2008 a new scheme is set to change Housing Benefit for people living in private rented accommodation. The scheme - called the Local Housing Allowance (LHA) - affects the amount of rent used to assess Housing Benefit and who it’s paid to.
These changes will have major implications for tenants who live in privately rented accommodation and their landlords.
We are running special events for Landlords to find out more. For more information visit our Local Housing Allowance - Keeping Landlords Informed page.
Text Messaging Pilot Scheme
The Customer Services Division is now running a pilot scheme to test the concept of using SMS - text messages - to reduce costs and improve the quality of service by reminding customers of appointments.

Scheme to speed up Housing Benefit applications
Tenants renting from Walbrook Housing Association can fill in a housing benefit application at their association’s local office. They will check the form before it is sent on to Derby City Council's Housing Benefit Service. The scheme is speeding up housing benefit applications by cutting out the delay caused when the Council has to return application forms that are incomplete or not filled in properly.
