Are you a Derby Homes tenant?
If you are, please give us your views about our 'Home Release Scheme'.
Derby City Council and Derby Homes know that many of our tenants feel their homes are too large for them and would like help with moving to a smaller, more manageable property. Moving to a smaller home could help people to:
- save money on heating and lighting bills
- save time and money on maintaining a garden
- reduce the time and money they spend on maintaining their home
- ease their mobility problems by having accommodation on one level, such as a ground-floor flat or bungalow.
Derby Homes is the arms-length organisation that manages Council housing in Derby. Its ‘Home Release Scheme’ is for tenants who want to move to a smaller property, but are put off by the cost and stress of moving.
The scheme offers a lump sum payment of up to £300 and help with removal costs. It has already encouraged many tenants to move into a smaller property so that larger properties are available for families who need it.
The Council is reviewing the scheme and wants to find out what it can do to improve the help it gives tenants who want to move to a smaller property.
