First birthday celebrations

Mickleover Library has just celebrated its first birthday with 23 young people at a jamming session, 42 children signing up for the team read and 700 people visiting the library over the birthday weekend. All this was helped along by the cream teas served by the Library User Group and of course, a cake. Here is a celebratory poem written by customers and staff to mark the event.


The Mickleover Birthday Poem
We can’t believe a year has passed
Since Mickleover moved at last
From humble lodgings in the hut
To luxury fit for King Tut!

With books galore and lots to do
Hard work indeed for Jenny’s crew

For oldies on computers in a stew
Colin’s there to see us through

We cut the cake, twas very nice
Sorry if you didn’t get a slice

It’s time to thank the trees as well
For providing books that shops sell
Which in the library come for free?
Just sign up and then you will see

And you might think you are not very good at putting words on paper
But I can almost guarantee you’ll think of something later

Happy Birthday Mickleover
You are 1 year old

Since the library has been new
There is extra fun for me and you

Libraries are such jolly places
People with smiles on their faces

There are lots and lots of books to read
And loads of new things to see indeed
Mickleover is the best
With lots more books than all the rest
