The Local Studies Collection of Photographs


Derby Local Studies Library and  are currently digitising their extensive illustration collections.  These are available, along with the collections of Derbyshire, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire at Picture the Past external link .

Derby Local Studies Library has over 15,000 photographs, dating from the mid 19th century to today.  We also have over 1,000 engravings going back to the 18th century.  You can see pictures of many places in Derby and Derbyshire, and almost any subject, from Allenton to Youlgreave, Abbeys to Zoos.

We have many photographs by Richard Keene, the well known 19th Century Derby photographer.
