The Local Studies Library has an extensive collection of manuscripts, all of which are included in the catalogues.

Stephen Glover
Six notebooks
These contain much information not published in the two printed volumes of the 1829 History and Gazetteer of the County of Derby.

Harriet Georgiana Mundy
Mundy Lysons
A grangerized edition, compiled in 1864, of the published history of Derbyshire by Daniel and Samuel Lysons. These are ten very large volumes containing much extra material, for example, the letters, drawings, engravings and photographs.

All volumes have been indexed by name and subject and added to the library’s indexes. Available on microfilm. A900MSS

Rev Richard Randall Rawlins
Churches and chapels in the County of Derby
1843, 3 volumes.
Compiled during the year 1820 – 1840 with notes and illustrations of church exteriors. Many represent the only record of the appearance of the churches in the 19th century. Available on microfilm. A726MSS.

DrawingGilbert Thompson
Four notebooks Four notebooks
Compiled between 1880 and 1902. Containing notes and drawings of all aspects of Derbyshire people, customs, history, legends, together with many coloured coats-of-arms. All volumes have been indexed by name, subject and place. Microfilms are available, except where coloured coats-of-arms need to be identified. A900.9MSS (12182-12185)

Rev Charles Kerry
Twenty six notebooks
Born in Smalley, Derbyshire, Charles Kerry was successively curate at York, Puttenham, Reading and Stonebroom in Derbyshire. During all these appointments he collected notes on these localities. Includes Parish Register transcripts, copies of wills, inventories and huge single volume of family pedigrees. Available on microfilm. MSS(4665-4686)

Letters to Osias Philips, D Daulby, J Leigh Philips and others. Letters concerning Wright’s paintings from James Heath, Richard Wright, P Holland and others to J Philips. Available on microfilm.

Joseph Wright
Some account of Joseph Wright of Derby 1850. Family information believed to be by Wright’s niece Hannah in three books. Available on microfilm. (11172; 12331; 12332)
