Springwood Leisure Centre Development
Your new Library and Gym coming soon to Oakwood
Springwood Leisure Centre has been given planning permission to build an extension to the rear of the building behind the squash courts.
A new gym will be located in the extension. The gym is due to open August 2008.
A library will be provided where the existing gym is situated. The library is free to join, with free internet access and much more. The library is due to open in December 2008. Building work is on schedule, so as soon as the new gym is complete work can start on the new library space.
Libraries and Leisure Centre staff are working together to deliver some joint children’s activities in the summer holidays. For more details or to book a place for your child contact the Leisure Centre on 01332 664433.
From Saturday 5 July children in Oakwood will be able to join the summer reading challenge, "Team Read". Team Read is open to children and young people aged from 4 to 12 and offers lots of ideas for some brilliant summer reading. Library staff will be at the Leisure Centre at these times for children and young people to join Team Read. There will be a choice of books to borrow.
