Booking is easy
Booking is essential for all educational groups visiting the museums, whether you are self-guided or taking part in one of our workshops. We strongly recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment.
To make a booking please call our administration office on 01332 716669. We will discuss your requirements and make a provisional booking. You will then be sent a confirmation letter. Please contact us immediately if any changes need to be made.
To ensure you have the best experience with your class, group sizes are limited according to museum site:
35 children at the Museum and Art Gallery and at The Silk Mill,
30 children at Pickford's House.
A minimum ratio of 1 adult to 6 KS 1 children and 1 adult to 10 KS 2 children is required.
Prices
Standard taught workshops at any of the museums last for 1.5 hours and are for one class.
Cost: £60 per workshop
Standard taught workshops plus a creative activity at any of the museums last for 2 hours and are for one class.
Cost: £80 per workshop
Taught workshops held in school are charged at a higher rate.
Cost: £110 for half a day, plus travel expenses at 40 pence per mile
Or: £200 for a full day, plus travel expenses at 40 pence per mile
The number of sessions offered as part of a half and full day varies. Please ask when making your booking.
Discovery Boxes are for use in the galleries and cost £10 per box.
Cancellations
We require at least ten working days notice for cancellation of a booked workshop. Where insufficient notice is given, we reserve the right to charge groups the full cost of the workshop.
Access
Museum and Art Gallery has a ramped entrance, lift and wheelchair access to all floors.
At Pickford’s House, wheelchair access is limited to the ground floor, lower ground floor and garden. A video presentation with sign language shows the whole house.
At The Silk Mill there is level access to all floors by lift.
Accessible toilets are available at Museum and Art Gallery and The Silk Mill.
Lunch Facilities
There are no designated lunch facilities however we can sometimes arrange for lunches to be eaten indoors in designated teaching spaces. At Pickford’s House groups may also eat in the garden. Please let us know if you want to book these facilities.
Risk Assessment
A risk assessment has been undertaken for visits to all three museum sites. Copies can be requested from the administration office on 01332 716669.
