Directions to Pickford's House from different approaches and using different modes of transport

Follow A52 west towards Derby City Centre. At the Pentagon Traffic Island carry straight on, following signs for 'Inner Ring Road, A52 Ashbourne'. Continue along St Alkmund's Way, then Ford St., until you reach the traffic lights at the junction with Friar gate, where the A52 turns off to the right. Turn right, keeping in the furthest right hand lane. Continue along Friar Gate, past Pickford’s House, situated on your right. At the traffic lights turn right, again keeping in right hand lane. Bear right again into Agard St, and continue in right hand lane until you come to the entrance to the museum car park on your right (at the rear of Pickford’s House). The entrance is situated soon after you pass the premises of Derby Optical. |

Follow the A38 until you reach the junction with the A52 (Ashbourne Rd) on the western side of the city. At this roundabout take the exit for the City Centre (A52). Follow the A52 Ashbourne Rd towards the City Centre. At the traffic lights at the junction with the Uttoxeter Old Rd, continue straight on into Friar Gate. Follow the one way system round into Agard St, keeping in the right hand lane all the time, until you come to the the entrance to the museum car park on your right (at the rear of Pickford’s House). The entrance is situated soon after you pass the premises of Derby Optical. |

Follow A6 south (Duffield Rd) towards Derby City Centre. Continue along the A6, into King St, and follow this road (following signs to the Inner Ring Road North) until you turn left on to the inner ring road (St Alkmund’s Way). Continue along St Alkmund's Way, then Ford St., until you reach the traffic lights at the junction with Friar gate, where the A52 turns off to the right. Turn right, keeping in the furthest right hand lane. Continue along Friar Gate, past Pickford’s House, situated on your right. At the traffic lights turn right, again keeping in right hand lane. On exiting the station cross the road to catch the 41, 44 or 45 bus into the city from the bus stop by the old Railway Institute. This is a short journey and will drop you on Morledge opposite the bus station. On alighting from the bus, cross the road and enter Derby Bus Station. Take the 28 or 29 bus for Mackworth, and alight on Friar Gate, opposite Pickford’s House. |

Free car park at the rear of the museum. Please note that the gateway to the car park is too narrow to admit a coach.
