Natalie’s work is about being ‘displaced’ and the exploration of new surroundings, about the stranger observing their new environment and how we respond to the confusion of the unfamiliar.

High contrast image, with motion blur, of a wary looking man This exhibition is a culmination of the work made during a 10-month residency derived from the theme ‘Sense of Place’ and inspired by the people and landscape of Derbyshire.

Natalie Dowse is the winner of the Derbyshire Community Foundation’s Vickers Art Award and teaching fellowship at the University of Derby 2007-08.
