Features and facilities

Allestree Hall
The grade 2 listed hall was built at the end of the 18th Century and has had numerous wealthy owners. The last of whom was Sir William Evans who donated it to the local parish and villages in 1864. In 1928 it was bought by builders, however, the second world war stopped the housing development. The hall was then used by the Army and the Fire Brigade. In the 1950s it was taken over by the Council along with the remaining 323 acres of land. The main part of the hall has been left abandoned since the early 1980s. It is now used as the Club House for the golf course and houses the shop, bar, and toilet facilities including a disabled toilet.
The hall is open to the public for refreshments on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunchtimes between 11am and 3pm.
Children
Children will enjoy walking around the pets' corner and seeing a variety of birds and animals, including rabbits, sheep, ducks, hens, cockerels and peacocks.
The large fish pond in front of the hall is also home to a couple of giant bronze turtles. They were moved to the park when the river gardens were altered and the old market was replaced by the Eagle Centre in the early 1970s.
Floral features
There are seasonal bedding displays, rose beds and shrubs, which are all concentrated around the Hall.
