How to get an allotment

Chaddesden Park AllotmentsThis is the step by step guide to your bit of earthy paradise in Derby.

  1. Think about what you want, read books Globe icon, watch the Allotment DVD Globe icon, talk to friends, go to allotment open days.
  2. Find an allotment near to you and contact them and arrange a visit. Ask lots of questions about organic growing, soil quality, who grows what, security, what plots are free, what their history is and whether they can do starter plots.
  3. Then go away and think about it. Do you have time? Where will you store your tools? Who will look after it when you go away?
  4. Still keen? Then get on the waiting list for the plot you want.

Due to constant changes in plot availability we recommend that you either ring or email for details.

It could be that a plot you take over would want some clearing. We try to encourage plot holders to be environmentally friendly and not use nasty chemicals. You may wish to visit the garden organic Globe icon web site.
