History

The parkland includes an area formerly known as Mosey Yard which was the site of Chaddesden Hall and associated grounds. The hall was home to the Wilmot family from 1727 until the death of Sir Henry Wilmot’s sister in 1916. In the early 1920s the estate was divided up and sold and the hall was demolished. The site was later purchased by the borough council to be used as a public amenity.
