The Craft Village is situated in the centre of the Markeaton Park between the duck pond bridge and the tea rooms. It is within the old stable yard at the rear of the Orangery and was opened in 1987. There are a number of small craft workshops and businesses where hand made goods may be purchased. They also often have activities and events, particularly during the summer months.
The courtyard has also been used on occasion for Shakespearian productions in the summer evening.

Paint a Pot
Paint a pot is a ceramics craft room workshop above Anne Marie Mace. They have drop sessions which run between 11am to 4pm everyday. You can call in and paint a pot to take away, or you can leave it there for firing and collect it later. There are regular classes held both at the craft room and at desired locations. These are for both adults and children and run for six week periods. Paint a Pot birthday parties can also be held both in the craft room and at your
own home. Businesses can use the facilities for team building exercises, and there are several special events days each year.

Studio in the Park
Gift Shop - The gift shop caters for a wide selection of park visitors. It has a comprehensive range of outdoor toys as well as general toys. There is a range of gifts, household items, French soaps, bath products, jams and chutneys, jewellery scarves, bags, cards and seasonal items.
Painted Furniture - The Studio has a variety of painted furniture on sale from French Provincial to exclusive one off designs. Commissions are also undertaken to paint your own furniture to individual specifications. It also has a range of decorative items to enhance interiors.
Party in the Park - The Studio offers a range of children’s craft parties specific to a child’s age. These are either “Create and Decorate” or “Bead Jewellery” parties. Party size is from 8 – 12 children and age range is generally 4 – 12 years.

The honey pot sells locally produced honey from bees at their own apiaries. Their belief is to use traditional and ethical methods that causes the minimal stress to the bees. At the shop they have a variety of products that are related to the world of the honey bee.

Hammerhead
Hammerhead sells fine wrought iron work and artistic metal work. The work is usually commissioned, but photographs and design book examples are displayed within the shop. You can go along and watch work been forged and look at examples of the work created such as gates, railings and both interior and exterior furniture.

Lilac Joinery
Here they make delightful garden furniture ranging from gates for driveway, bird tables, signs and house number to doing furniture for children's bedrooms. Lilac Joinery also produces unique play houses, which have previously included Tudor styling and one which featured the Seven Dwarves on the front.

The Cartoon Studio
Andy Gilbert in the Cartoon Studio provides a commercial and novelty cartoon service. As well as producing illustrations and images for advertising purposes, he also draws unique cartoons to suit individual tastes. Andy is a member of the prestigious Cartoonist Club of Great Britain, and also the Comic Creators Guild and the Federation of European Cartoonists Organization. Originals and prints are for sale in the shop, where some of Andy's work is also on display. You are welcome to come along and watch him drawing. Andy Gilbert Cartoons -

Holbourne House
Holbourne house offers a range of craftware products, as a well as a picture framing service. The unique range of gifts include framed prints, musical boxes, and vintage model vehicles and steam trains in boxed frames - all of which are made by hand. A variety of materials are used in the production including gold and silver leaf, leather, velvet, lace and wood veneer. The most popular item is autumn leaves from the park which are preserved using a heat laminating process and framed in natural wood. These have been sent world wide as gifts.

Matthew Morris Furniture
Matthew creates beautiful hardwood furniture and is a specialist architectural joinery manufacturer. You can view the work along with the portfolio of photographs. You are also welcome to watch furniture being made.
