Normanton Park was opened by the Duke of Devonshire in the presence of Mayor of Derby, Alderman WB Robotham, on the 6 September 1909. The park runs alongside Normanton allotments and Warwick Avenue, off which a car park is situated. There is also an entrance by foot from Clarence Road and Fairfield Road.

In September 2009 it was the park 100th birthday. To celebrate there was face painting, giant games, drop-in banner workshop and postcard in park, amongst many other activities for all the family.
Access
Car - The car park is situated off Warwick Avenue.
Foot/ Bike - There are two entrances off Warwick Ave, one at the car park and one by the activity centre. You can also gain access at the back of the park off Fairfield road and Chatsworth st.
The main open park land is covered by three football pitches, it has wide pathways around its circumference which are
lined by well established trees. Normanton activity centre is situated on the park.
