Parks and Recreation

Derwent Park

Derwent Park Frosty, looking towards the wall which seperates it from Darley Park.

This park is on the upper side of the path which separates it from Darley Park. It links the entire area up to where it can be accessed from, South Drive, Darley Park Drive and Duffield Road. Apart from being on highly undulating ground, the area has some huge trees and fantastic views. One of the most significant features is a disused Victorian fountain. It is located near the South drive entrance, through a pair of large cast iron gates.

There are also cast iron gates at the entrances from Duffield Road and at the end of Darley Park Drive, however the Darley Park Drive gates lead onto Darley Park. Derwent Park is the grass to your right, backing onto the houses on Darley Park Grove. You can walk almost its entire length where it borders Darley Park by following the beautiful stone walled path.

The park also contains a notice board marking the site of a Roman watch tower. This dates from their earliest occupation of the area.
