Think you've got what it takes to be the next Joesph Wright, or can recreate Van Gogh's sunflowers? Perhaps you just like making a mess. Whatever your standard, why not enter our annual painting competition?
The competition aims to encourage young people to develop a caring attitude towards the environment by looking at their immediate surroundings, recognising and recording plants, flowers, trees and shrubs. The competition acknowledges the contribution to an environment, which is cared for and makes a difference to everyone's quality of life.
The competition is open to all children who live within the City of Derby aged up to 16 years.
Competition is currently divided into five classes and the following rules apply:
Classes
- Class 1 – up to 7 years of age
- Class 2 – 8 to 10 years of age
- Class 3 – 11 to 13 years of age
- Class 4 – 14 to 16 years of age
- Special Schools
Rules
- Maximum size 500mm wide by 750mm high, the paper must be in the portrait profile
- Pictures must not contain any wording
- An entry form must be attached to the back of each painting
- Paint must be used, montage not accepted
- Must be a child's unaided work and not a group of children
