The
Darley Park Concert 2008 took place on Sunday 31 August.
- pre-concert entertainment started at 17.30
- the concert itself started at 18.30 and ended at around 9pm. The interval was between 19.25 to 19.55
- the fireworks will began at around 20.30
The conductor was Timothy Redmond and the soloist was Samantha Shaw.
Charges
Entry to the concert was free of charge.
Disabled access
There was some disabled parking on the park and there were disabled toilets situated on both sides of the stage.
General information
- The 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, and 6.4 bus services all go along the A6 Duffield Road, past the top of the park, from Derby. For times, please contact Traveline

- car parking was available at the park for £5
- you could not sit in your car and see the concert
- you were not allowed to bring fireworks or open flares/candles
- the police were the people to speak to about traffic management measures in Darley Abbey village. Contact Millie Taylor at Derby Police Headquarters on 01332 613039
- young children were welcome, but were made aware that the fireworks were very loud and went on for quite some time
you were able to bring picnics, but not barbecues due to fire risks
- it was requested that you don't bring animals to the park, as the fireworks can scare them
- it was advised that you brought a torch as it was dark by the time the concert ended
- there was a free bike park to the left of the stage, stewarded by Derby Cycling Group
- the stage was at the bottom of the park, facing the hill
- chairs were not supplied
- the Lost Persons' tent was to the left of the stage
- there were children's inflatables at the village end of the park
- there were food stands and a bar
- we handed out plastic sacks on the day, for food and other waste, and for recyclables
- it was requested that you did not bring gazebos or tents to the park as they would obscure the view.
