Welcome to Sport and Leisure – Funding Zone!
My name is Louise Williams and I am the Funding Officer for Sport and Leisure.
The Sport and Leisure Funding Zone aims to provide you with information and advice about the many external funds that are currently available to develop the activities of your club or group. The first issue of the Sport and Leisure External Funding Update includes many opportunities for you to apply for funding in the city and through Awards for All. I have developed a hints and tips page document on applying for funding to help you to make a successful application. The Funding Zone will also provide you with guidance on monitoring your grant from Sport and Leisure or external organisations.

The Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund
The Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund aims to give financial support to Derbyshire’s top sporting performers to help them with their training needs or equipment.
Nominations now open for 2009 applications to the fund
Talented sports performers who live in or compete for Derbyshire are being invited to apply for a share of the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund. The Fund, now in its second year, gives financial support to Derbyshire athletes to assist them with their training needs, with money helping to meet the costs of travel, coaching or equipment.
Performers from all sports recognised by Sport England are eligible to be nominated for a bursary and should be nominated if they are competing for England or Great Britain or have the potential to do so within the next 12 to 18 months.
Nominations can now be made for the Derbyshire Talented Athlete Fund for 2009. In 25 sports, athletes must be nominated by their governing body. In all other sports, parents, coaches or the athlete can apply for a bursary themselves. The deadline for applications is 31 October 2008.
Athletes who are currently in the scheme who would like to receive a bursary for a second year must ensure they are nominated again as they will not be put forward automatically.
For further details, log onto the Derbyshire Sport website at www.derbyshiresport.co.uk or call Daniel Newton on 01773 571229.
