- Tae Kwon Do world champion and captain of the British national team Gordon Fearne visited Moorways Sports Centre for an event featuring a live show and information on the sport.
- In the summer the Ice Adventure Challenge, an inflatable obstacle course, came to Derby. The winner won free swimming sessions.

- Staff from Queen’s Leisure Centre are celebrating after scaling the three highest peaks in Britain within 24 hours in the Three Peaks Challenge.
