Derby City Council runs swimming pools at Moorways Sports Complex and Queen's Leisure Centre. Each pool offers a range of sessions, including laned swimming, fun sessions, adult and child, and women only. The pool programmes on this page show all public swimming sessions.

You can pay each time you go or take out a bfit membership. You can also save money by getting a Passport to Leisure card.

Safe swimming guide

To help you enjoy using the swimming pool facilities, please follow these guidelines at all times...

• Children under eight-years-old must be accompanied by an adult. Ask the pool reception for the child admission policy.
• Always shower before swimming.
• Never swim under the effects of alcohol, drugs or after a heavy meal.
• Always follow the lifeguards' instructions - they are fully qualified.
• Be careful swimming around children and non-swimmers. If you see someone in difficulty, get help from a lifeguard.
• At busy times swimming sessions will be limited to 40-minutes.
• Stay safe by behaving sensibly- no running, ducking, bombing or acrobatics. Shouting, screaming and unruly behaviour around the pool can be dangerous.
• Please tell a lifeguard if you have any medical conditions which may effect you whilst swimming.
• Please wear appropriate swim wear. You can wear: swimming trunks, swimming shorts, swimming costume, bikini, leggings, lycra-based tracksuit bottoms, lycra-based tops, close fitting cotton t-shirt, long or short sleeved rash vest, Burqini/Hijood or other Islamic swimwear, knee-length shorts. Please remove jewellery and piercings.
• Do not use cameras, video cameras or mobile phone cameras anywhere in the building.
• Make sure you know the depth of the water and where it becomes deeper.
• We sell goggles, armbands, swim hats and other swimming items at the reception.

• Recreation Passport to Leisure holders: free swimming from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday during casual swimming sessions at both pools.
