An activity programme just for women and girls
b-active Make Your Move Your Way programme takes place at community venues and leisure centres in the city. All sessions are sensitive to cultural and religious needs of women and many are female-only staffed.
Who can take part and how much does it cost?
All women are welcome to attend the sessions. Prices vary for different sessions.
What activities are included in the programme?
Self Defence
When: Monday 6.45pm to 7.45pm for women and girls
(please note you must arrive 10 minutes before the session begins to sign in )
Where:St James' Centre, Malcolm Street, Normanton
Incorporating kick boxing, confidence training and the opportunity to gain a kickboxing belt
Prices: various prices - please speak to the instructor when you arrive for a session

For women over 16
When: Monday 7pm to 8pm

Are you interested in becoming an Activity Leader?
Why not volunteer to become an Activity Leader, manage your own sessions and help get your community more active?
Nusrat Praveen (37) from Normanton, is signing up for the programme and is volunteering to support with translation and mentoring. Nusrat says 'I think this is a great opportunity for women in the Asian community to get more active, particularly for Muslim women who need to be in a female only environment. I'm really looking forward to the women and girl's swim sessions and the introduction to keep fit course. I would like to train to become an exercise instructor myself and hope that b-active might support this'.
