Parents and guardians are urged to get their children involved in an exciting programme of summer holiday activities between 28 July and 29 August as Derby City Council’s b-active Summer Xplosion hits Derby College Sports Centre, Prince Charles Avenue, Mackworth, Derby.
Derby College Sports Centre is running the following activities in week three of the summer holidays:
• Sports activities in association with Mackworth Estate Community Association between 12 and 14 August from 10am to 1pm for ages eight to 14 years. Each session costs £1 for children living in the Mackworth area and places must be booked in advance.
• Dance sessions on 11 August from 1pm to 2pm for children aged five to nine years and 2pm to 3pm for young people aged 11 to 16 years. They are priced at £2 and can be booked in advance or on the day.
• Rugby league on 12 August from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. It is suitable for ages 11 to 15 years and costs £2. Places can be booked in advance or on the day.
• Wheelchair basketball in association with the Derby Wheelblazers on 12 August from 1.30pm to 3.30pm. The session is suitable for young people aged over 11. Places can be booked in advance or on the day and each session is priced at £2.
• Monkey and Meercat’s Holiday Club on 11 August from 10am to 12 noon. It is suitable for under-eights accompanied by a parent or carer. Booking is in advance or on the day. Price a child a session is £2. The parent or carer attends for free.
• Children and young people can get the b-active Buzz and have a go at Wii Fit and Wii Sports or visit the b-active diary room pod to win a £50 JJB voucher on 14 August from 10am to 1pm. It is suitable for ages 11 to 15 years. Places can be booked in advance or on the day and cost £1 a child or are free to children on other sports activities.
