Moorways Sports Centre Hosts Week Three of the b-active Summer Xplosion

Parents and guardians are urged to get their children involved in an exciting programme of summer holiday activities between 28 July and 29 August as Derby City Council’s b-active Summer Xplosion hits Moorways Sports Centre, Moor Lane, Allenton, Derby.

Moorways Sports Centre is running the following activities in week three of the summer holidays:

• Children aged eight to 15 can be part of the b-active Xperience from 11 to 15 August from 9am to 3pm. People should book in advance. An additional breakfast club runs from 11 to 15 August between 8am to 9am for ages 8 to 15 years.

• Under-eights can enjoy Monkey and Meercat’s Holiday Club. It involves games and activities using simple equipment for both under-fours and parents to take part in together. A session runs on Tuesday 12 August from 10am to 11am.

• Four to six year olds can enjoy structured fun, games and fundamental skills led by a coach on Thursday 14 August from 10am to 11am. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Six to eight year olds can enjoy structured fun and games with an emphasis on more advanced skills led by a coach on Friday 15 August from 10am to 11am. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Martial Arts sessions run on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August from 3pm to 5pm. The sessions are suitable for ages 11 to 15. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Children aged 11 to 15 can give Rugby League a go on Thursday 14 August from 2pm to 4pm. They can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Children aged 11 to 15 can get the b-active buzz on 12 August from 1pm to 3pm. It is a great chance to have a go on Wii Fit, Wii Sports and visit the b-active diary room to tell the b-active team what activities they like doing. They can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Dance sessions take place on Wednesday 13 August from 1pm to 2pm for children aged five to nine. Disco and Fun Streetdance takes place from 2.30pm to 3.30pm for 10 to 13 year olds. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Cheerleading runs on Thursday 14 August from 2.30pm to 3.30pm for children aged 10 to 16. They can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Family Badminton happens on Monday 11 August from 1pm to 5pm for parents and children. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a court should book in advance.

• Springtots sessions run on 11 and 15 August from 9.45am to 10.30 for children aged 9 months to 3 years, from 10.45am to 11.30am for children aged three and four years and from 11.45am to 12.30pm for children aged five to eight years. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.

• Star:Track athletics runs between 11 and 15 August from 10am to 3pm each day for ages eight to 15. Participants can turn up on the day but to guarantee a place should book in advance.
