Animal fouling
Dog dirt left on the public highway which is not only extremely unpleasant but dangerous too - it can lead to blindness due to an infection called 'Toxocara canis'.
It is an offence for a dog owner not to clean up after their dog on the public highway and failure to do so can result in prosecution and fine.
If you walk your dog on the highway always carry the means to clear up after your pet. A simple plastic bag is sufficient or poop scoops can be purchased from most Council Offices and pet shops. You can dispose of a small amount of dog fouling in a litter bin, provided this is not wall-mounted or does not display a notice prohibiting the dog fouling.
If you see large amounts of dog excrement please contact us using the above contact details or enter the details in this Online Form and this will be cleared away as soon as possible.
The Dog Wardens can arrange for 'Clean it up' signs to be erected if requested. For more information please contact the dog warden service on 01332 255260
