You can only take waste to Raynesway that you generate by the normal occupancy of a house on a day-tom-day basis. In addition you may also take
- A maximum of four car tyres
- upto three 6ft x 3ft (1.83m x .91m) panels of asbestos can be accepted at teh site. Please contact the site beforehand on 01332 755482 to ensure the asbestos skip is not full.
- a limited amount of chemical waste such as photgraphic chemicals may be accepted , but again it is advisable to contact the site in advance.
What can't I take to Raynesway
No construction materials from improvements or replacements to property, repairs or renewals of garages, sheds, patios and so on, or from garden redesign, will be permitted unless the amount of waste can be accommodated in one journey within a private car.
If you have to dispose of large amounts of DIY waste you should
- Take your waste to a licensed waste site
- Arrange for it to be taken away by a waste company. You local directories such as Yellow Pages will have a list of these.
- Arrange for a Skip or 'hippo bag'
Whole asbestos sheds, garages or other type of outbuilding will not be accepted.
Will I need a permit?
The facilities at Raynesway are available to all Derby City residents using their car to dispose of their own waste. If you are a Derby resident and wish to use a small van or trailer you will have to have to apply for a permit.
The permit system is designed to stop non-household waste being disposed of at these sites and thereby provide better value for money services to the council tax payers of Derby.
A car is defined as a vehicle, owned by a household, designed primarily for transporting people. Specialist vehicles, such as 4x4s, LandRovers and people carriers will be classed as a car providing they have rear windows and forward facing rear seats.
All vans/pick ups under 3.5 tonnes gross, and vehicles with trailers, need a permit to use the Civic Amenity Site. If you are intending to hire a van, you will need to state how many visits you are intending to make to the site and a permit will be issued.
There is a maximum issue of one permit per vehicle or address in any three-month period, subject to a maximum of four permits over a 12-month period.
Please note that height restriction barriers exist. Details of ownership of vehicles may be checked with the DVLA.
Will I be eligible for a permit
Providing that you can answer yes to the following questions, you may be eligible for a permit to tip:
- Do you live in the City of Derby and pay Council Tax to Derby City Council?
- Will you be bringing only household waste from your own home?
- Do you know the details of the vehicle that you will be using?
- Are you willing to have an inspector visit your household, if necessary, to verify the waste that you want to deposit?
You can apply for a permit by contacting Derby Direct on the above contact details, between 9am and 5pm Monday to Thursday and between 9am and 4.30pm Fridays. Your permit will be posted to you by second class post, or you can collect it from:
