All City Council car parks are ‘pay and display’ with the exception of Bold Lane, Assembly Rooms and Chapel Street which are pay on exit

Please have correct money ready, as change is not given on ‘pay and display’ car parks

Purchase ticket from machine and display ticket clearly inside front windscreen

Solo motorcycles can be parked free of charge on all City Council car parks except Bold Lane

Blue badge holders can park for up to three hours for free

Bank Holidays – no charges except Bold Lane (see Car Park Charges)

Sundays - no charges except Bold Lane, Assembly Rooms and Council House (see Car Park Charges)
All car parks are regularly patrolled by our parking attendants. Please ensure that you purchase a ticket immediately after parking your vehicle and return before the expiry time of your ticket. Park only within marked parking bays. Unless you have a blue badge displayed, do not park in spaces reserved for blue badge holders.
The height restrictions for each car park are:
- Abbey Street: 7ft (2.1m)
- Assembly Rooms: 6ft (1.9m)
- Bold Lane and Chapel Street: 6ft 8 (2m)
- Council House: No Height Restrictions. Maximum stay is 4 hours
- Darwin Place: 8ft 3 (2.5m)
- Drewry Lane, Little City, Liversage Street, Sacheveral Street and Wilmot Street: 7ft (2.1m)
- Ford Street: No Height Restrictions
- Grove Street: No Height Restrictions. Free short stay car park

- Note 2: The hours between 6pm and 8am plus Sundays and Bank Holidays are charged as follows: 0 to 2 hrs = £2.40, 2 to 4 hrs = £4.20, over 4 hours £6.50
- Note 3: The hours between 6pm and 8am Monday to Saturday and anytime on Sunday is charged at £2.00
- Note 4: The hours between 5pm and 8am Monday to Saturday and anytime on Sundays is charged at £2.00
Car Park Season Tickets
Regular users of City Council car parks can save money by purchasing season tickets. These are available for the following car parks:
Abbey Street, Darwin Place, Little City, Drewry Lane:
- £95.00 for one month
- £240 for three months
- £430.00 for six months
- £790.00 for 12 months
Chapel Street:
- £100.00 for one month
- £250.00 for three months
- £440.00 for six months
- £810.00 for 12 months
Bold Lane - ParkSafe®:
- £490.00 for three months
- £900.00 for six months
- £1750.00 for 12 months
A Season Ticket allows you to park provided that:
- There are spaces available
- your vehicle is parked wholly within a marked bay
- your Season Ticket is clearly displayed in the windscreen.
