Most bus services in Derby are operated commercially by the various bus companies without any direct financial support from the City Council. Therefore, the bus operator should be contacted with any queries regarding bus fares or routes.
Bus Improvement Targets
Derby City Council is committed to the improvement and sustainability of the bus network. To do this specific targets have been set. Further details of these can be found in the Public Transport Strategy, which is Annex F of The Derby Joint Local Transport Plan (2006 - 2011). In brief, these targets are:
- To increase the number of bus passenger journeys
- To improve the level of bus punctuality
- To increase the use of park & ride
- To provide a high level of accessibility to schools, further education establishments, employment opportunities, General Practitioners and food shops
- To increase the percentage of users satisfied with local bus services
- To improve the accessibility of bus services
- To improve the provision of bus service information
- To reduce the number of people who feel unsafe when using transport services at night
- To encourage people to consider more sustainable modes of transport for journeys to work.
