The Derby Joint Local Transport Plan, LTP

All local transport authorities produce local transport plans, LTPs, that set out their strategies and proposals for improving transport in their area. The Transport Act 2000 sets out the legislative framework behind LTPs. Our first LTP was published in 2000 and covered proposals for the five year period up to March 2006.

The second Derby Joint LTP was produced jointly between Derby City and Derbyshire County Councils and covers the period 2006 to 2011. LTP2 was submitted to government in March 2006. Our progress during the first LTP2 period, 2006 to 2011, is outlined in the LTP2 Progress Report, which was submitted to government in December 2008.

LTP2 outlines a five year programme of schemes and initiatives that will help us deliver a range of objectives. It sets out our longer term approach to travel and transport in Derby and the surrounding rural area, helping to meet everyone's travel needs, making roads safer and providing viable alternatives to the car for more journeys. It explains our transport strategy up to the year 2021, which was developed in consultation with stakeholders and the public and following a major study of current problems and future issues.

LTP3

We have now started to prepare the third Local Transport Plan. LTP3 will extend the long term transport strategy to 2026, and include outlines of schemes for the years after 2011. LTP3 will be published by April 2011.

During 2010, we will be consulting on the development of LTP3 and publishing draft documents for you to comment on. A summary of the LTP3 consultation timetable, background documents and further information is available on the Local Transport Plan Consultation page.

The complete LTP1 and 2 documents are too large to be downloaded in their entirety. Individual chapters or sections can be downloaded as pdf files. However, if you would like to receive a copy on a CDROM, please get in touch with us and we will send a copy to you free of charge.
