‌What markets are there in Derby?

We manage two markets:

There are also a range of events taking place on our markets throughout the year such as the monthly Derby Farmers' Market.

Derby Market Hall (Cathedral Quarter)

The restored Victorian Market Hall on Tenant Street is home to a variety of traders selling a diverse range of fresh produce, fresh flowers, homeware, crafts and many other goods.

We also have a number of butchers, delicatessens and hot food stalls and some of our established traders have been operating in Derby Market Hall for many years.

Derby Market Hall‌ can be accessed via the Market Place, Cornmarket, Osnabruck Square and Tenant Street.

Expected trading hours are Monday-Saturday between 9.00am-5.00pm (occasionally Bank Holiday opening). Contact Derby Market Hall team for more information and new trader opportunities or call 01332 643344.

Allenton Market

This is a traditional open-air market on Osmaston Road which offers around 90 stalls with covered walkways. Car parking is available next to the market.

  • General Market: Expected trading hours are; Friday and Saturday between 9.00am-5.00pm (occasional Bank Holiday opening)

Monthly Farmers' Market


We hold monthly farmers' markets on Osnabruck Square at the entrance to our lovely Market Hall. There are a wide variety of stalls, all fronted by local businesses and offering a diverse range of locally and internationally sourced produce.

Love-Your-Local-Market-logo-2017-200x133We're celebrating Love Your Local Market 2017 #LYLM2017 this year which runs from Wednesday 17th May to Wednesday 31st May.

On Wednesday (17th May) the Mayor of Derby, Linda Winter will be joining us at 11.30am at Derby Market Hall to support our established market traders and welcome a new trader, Mr Jackson who will be selling Caribbean produce when he opens for the first time. Mr Jackson is one of three new traders joining our trader community in the coming weeks and we're all very excited to welcome them.

We will have live music from 11.30am throughout the day provided by local musicians, Natasha Cartwright, Ajay Henry and Rebecca Jayne.

Come and listen to some great music while you pick up your cheeses, fresh bread, and bananas and you'll be supporting small local businesses in the process!
