Building Works Approved List

An approved list is currently held for certain building maintenance, repair and minor building works contracts under the following categories: 

Building works in the following bands:

• Disabled Facility Grants
• Contracts up to £30,000
• Contracts £30,000 to £150,000
• Contracts £150,000 to £1 million
• Contracts £1 million to £3.5 million
• Demolition works
• Electrical works
• Mechanical works
• Mechanical & electrical works 

The scope of works range from minor extensions, alterations, repairs and refurbishment works through to major projects on the full range of our properties that include schools, libraries, community buildings and offices. 

Some minor alteration and extension works to private dwellings will be carried out under the Disabled Facility Grant scheme. Contractors who wish to be considered for work under this category must:

• have relevant experience of working in the private and domestic sectors carrying out small value works to a high standard
• ensure that contractors or sub-contractors are in possession of a current “Asbestos – Working with Non-Licensed Materials” certificate and an ID site card issued by a training provider who is a member of UKATA (United Kingdom Asbestos Training Association)
• be able to respond to emergency call outs and be on site and able to deal with the emergency within 30 minutes of receiving a call
• Suppliers who wish to be considered for mechanical works must be a member of HVAC – Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association and also be Gas Safety Registered.

Suppliers who wish to be considered for electrical works must be a member of either ECA – Electrical Contractors Association or NICEIC – National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting.
