|Why are we consulting?||
This consultation seeks people’s view on the Proposed Main Modifications to the Core Strategy arising from the pre-submission consultation, the Core Strategy hearings held in April and May 2016 and changes in Government planning policy.
In accordance with Section 20 (7C) of the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (as amended by Section 112 of the Localism Act 2011), the City Council formally requested that the Inspector present modifications needed to ensure that the Core Strategy is ‘sound’.
This is the final consultation before an independent Planning Inspector publishes a report on the ‘Soundness’ of the Derby City Local Plan - Part 1 Core Strategy.

Read the Proposed Main Modifications Schedule, the Derby City Local Plan - Part 1 Core Strategy: Proposed Modifications document, the Sustainability Appraisal and the Amendment to the Policies Map as a consequence of the Main Modification relating to the Friar Gate Goods Yard
A Minor Modifications Schedule has also been published but this does not form part of the consultation and the Council is not seeking people’s view on the minor modifications.
