|Title:||Parental Contributions Policy - Your Feedback|
|Why are we consulting?||
Local Authorities are facing cuts to the funding given to them by the Government to manage services. At the same time, the cost of running those services is increasing and Derby is now considering a range of measures to try to bridge that gap. One of the services under consideration is the ‘Looked After Children’ service. The increased costs of this service means the Council has to consider whether to introduce a parental contributions policy for working parents of children in care who can afford to contribute to their children’s care costs.
The Parental Contributions Policy is a new proposed policy and Council has to consult with people who may be affected. Section 6 of the policy shows how the Council would charge people if the policy is introduced.
