Markeaton Park

Markeaton Park is Derby’s most visited park and is one of the most popular attractions in the East Midlands. It offers a place to escape from day to day living and city life and experience a little bit of countryside on Derby’s doorstep.

How do I get to Markeaton Park?

By foot

The main entrances to the park are near Markeaton traffic island and at Markeaton Lane. You can also walk to the park through walkways all around the park - there are a number of paths along Kedleston Road.

By bike

The park is on cycle route 66 which runs near the east side of the park. It links up to the National cycle route 54. For more information on cycling, visit the Cycle Derby page.

By car

There are two car parks - the main car park, near the pitch and putt course, is accessible from Markeaton Island, DE22 4AA. It has a 2m height restriction. The other car park, near the Mundy Play Centre, is accessible from Markeaton Lane, DE22 4NH.

Parking costs £1.90 for up to two hours, £3.00 for up to four hours and £4.00 for over four hours.

If you are disabled, parking is free when you display a Blue Badge. There are parking spaces available in both car parks, and you can also park near the walled gardens.

There are also 500 spaces available on weekends at the University of Derby campus off  Kedleston Road, only a 4 minute walk from the Mundy Play Centre DE22 1GB – Please use car park 1 which is the first car park on the right side as you go up the drive.

By bus

Markeaton Park is on the following bus routes : Swift, 5, 29, 90, 108, 202, Allestree Green and Blue.

Toilets in Mundy Play Centre and the Craft Village are open 8.30am to 4.00pm

Disabled Toilets

There are 4 disabled toilets on Markeaton Park, all which require Radar keys. Two in the Mundy Play Centre and two in the Craft Village.

Please be aware that Parks buildings have limited opening so all facilities are only available when Parks buildings are in use.
