How do I apply to run an event on a park or open space?

  1. First of all, please read through the application form and Parks event terms and conditions.
  2. After you have read the application form and conditions, contact our Events and Bookings team to have a chat about potential parks, dates and times.
  3. Next, complete the application form and return it to us with all of the supporting documents.

Event application forms

Once you have submitted your application it will be thoroughly checked by us. It may also be checked by other organisations such as the Police, Fire and Ambulance services if needed.

When everyone is satisfied that your event will be safe and well managed, we will approve your application and set specific license conditions for you to use.

Don't forget to include in your application...

  • Stewards - How many members of staff are working on your event to make it safe?
  • Risk assessment - Failure to supply a risk assessment for a public event will result in your application being refused.
  • Site map - Please supply a map showing the location of your event
  • First Aid - What is your first aid provision on the day?

How long does it take to process the event application?

We ask for at least three months' notice for events with over 1,000 people attending, or for events which are of a 'more complex nature' as they will need to go to the Safety Advisory Group.

For events with fewer than 1,000 people attending, we ask for at least one month's notice.

The Safety Advisory Group's aim is to make sure that any risk to public safety at events is kept to a minimum. If the event is likely to attract more than 1,000 people, or due to its nature, location, complexity or size has specific risks associated with it, your application form will need to be looked at by the group. Representatives from the group will then support and advice you with your event.
