Who are we?
Following the "Sharper Focus" report by central government, it was decided that people with a sensory loss should be entitled to a service from a specialist team. Derby City Council founded its Sensory Team in 2000 and is based in Derby City Centre at 29 St Mary's Gate.
The team has ten members who work closely with other professionals including GPs, Housing Providers, Occupational Therapists and agencies like CamTAD, Derbyshire Association for the Blind, RNID, RNIB and Disability Direct.
Do you, or does someone you care for:
- Have difficulty reading mail or the newspaper?
- Have difficulty seeing where to put a signature
- Accidentally overfill a cup when making tea?
- Have difficulty seeing your medication?
- Have sight loss and have difficulty hearing as well?
- Have difficulty hearing the doorbell?
- Have the television at a volume others consider loud?
- Have difficulty hearing the telephone ring or what the caller is saying?
If the answer is "Yes" to any of these questions then the Sensory Team may be able to help.
