b-active during the school holidays

There’s lots to do for children in the school holidays, including learn to swim, splash sessions and cheerleading.

Programme changes

On Tuesday 24th April, 9.00am to 12.30pm, public swimming at Queen's Leisure Centre is being moved to Moorways Swimming Pool due to a gala taking place.

Off-peak times take place Monday to Friday until 3.45pm in our gym and until 4.00pm in our courts, and also all day during weekends and bank holidays.

Facilities and activities

Active Living sessions

We run activity sessions for people who are new to exercise or returning after a break called ‘Active Living’ sessions. Take part in swimming sessions and group exercise classes. These sessions are also suitable for older people.

Women’s only sessions

We run 'women only' and 'women and child' swimming sessions in our swimming pools.

Accessibility

Queen's Leisure Centre has received the Level One (Provisional) Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) Mark showing that we’re working towards meeting the needs of disabled people by providing fitness facilities and accessible areas. Our b-active gym also uses Technogym equipment which has been accredited by the IFI.

At our sports centre and swimming pool, we have:

  • ramped entry into the centre
  • automatic doors for easy wheelchair access
  • a hearing induction loop available at reception
  • a Minicom to help hearing impaired people to contact us
  • toilets and changing rooms for disabled people
  • equality range of gym equipment
  • pool hoists and easy access steps
  • a wheelchair lift
  • disabled car parking
  • free admission for carers if they are helping a disabled person take part in an activity.

How do I get to Queen's Leisure Centre?

Queen's Leisure Centre is located in Derby city centre on Cathedral Road, DE1 3PA.

Catch any bus into the city centre and walk to the Cathedral Quarter. Queen's Leisure Centre is by the Magistrates' Court and the Joseph Wright Centre.

There are a few disabled car parking spaces outside the centre, and Bold Lane and Chapel Street car parks are within walking distance.
