Bus station and public transport
The Coronavirus pandemic is an unprecedented situation in the UK and is having an enormous impact on every aspect of our lives, including public transport.
We will provide any up to date information we have regarding public transport on this page.
Bus station
Derby Bus Station reopened under a phased approach from Monday 8th June 2020.
A number of restrictions are in place to ensure the safety of all users, and passengers are asked to ensure social distancing is maintained at all times.
The bus station will be open daily, Monday to Saturday, from 6am until 11.45pm and from 8am to 11.30pm on Sundays.
The toilets and shop will remain open. However the information office will be closed.

There are six mobile hand sanitisation stations located across the concourse, to allow passengers to maintain good hand hygiene before travelling.

National Express coaches have been suspended from Sunday 10th January 2021 until further notice.
Revised bus stop locations
Temporary removal of bus stops to assist with social distancing
A number of bus stops have been moved in the city centre to assist with social distancing, and allow more space on the pavements to support people to stay safe.
The bus stop on London Road has been relocated to outside Wilkos, and from Monday 29th June, the bus stop on Babington Lane outside the post office will be moved to the existing bus stop (A7) on Osmaston Road.
Park and Ride - Meteor Centre Retail Park
Due to COVID-19, this service has been suspsended until further notice. Please check the website for further information.
Rail services
From Monday 23rd March 2020, East Midlands Railway, in partnership with the rest of the UK rail industry, introduced a reduced timetable.
All enclosed waiting rooms on stations are now closed until further notice. This follows guidance from Public Health England and industry agreement to help enforce social distancing. Toilets, including disabled toilets, will remain available for use at stations that are staffed.
The opening times at ticket office at Derby Railway Station have been revised, and will now be open as detailed below:
- Monday to Saturday from 6am to 8pm
- Sunday from 6.20am to 8pm
